Blueberry Planting Calendar & Reminders
Blueberry care is a calendar, not a chore list: plant dormant, prune late-winter, feed in spring, net before the birds notice. Pick your zone for your windows — then download reminders so the dates land in your own calendar.
The .ics file adds three annual reminders — late-winter prune, spring feed, pre-harvest netting — that you can import into any calendar app.
The year, in one table (moderate climates)
| When | Job | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Late winter (dormant) | Prune | Remove oldest canes; shape before bud-break |
| Early spring | Plant dormant bushes; first feed | Roots establish before heat; acid fertilizer as growth starts |
| Spring bloom | Protect from late frost if forecast; welcome bees | Flowers are the crop |
| Late spring | Second light feed for young bushes; mulch check | Fruit is sizing; roots are shallow and thirsty |
| Just before ripening | Net the patch | Net a week before you think you need to — birds start early |
| Harvest | Pick every 2–3 days; water steadily | Fully-colored berries, a few days past blue, are the sweet ones |
| Fall | Plant (warm zones); apply sulfur if pH needs lowering | Sulfur needs months to work — fall application readies spring soil |
